Muse S Athena Care Instructions Avoid over-stretching or folding your Muse S fabric band near the sensors. This could cause damage to the sensors. Try to avoid any skin care products or chemicals before using your Muse S. If you do use skin care products, make sure it's dried before putting on your Muse S. Cleaning Instructions Remove the Muse Athena pod from the sensor band before washing the sensor band. The pod cannot be washed. Gently hand wash your Athena sensor band with a small amount of mild, scent-free detergent. Gently rub fingers over the sensors and fabric to agitate and remove dirt. Important: Don't put your Muse sensor band in a washing machine or dryer. This will damage your sensor band and void the limited warranty. Drying: lay it on a towel on a flat surface and dry it with it by gently pressing the towel into the headband to absorb excess water. It can be laid flat to dry completely or hung by the snapping the clasp together over a clothes line. Placing your Athena sensor band near a heat source is okay, so long as the Muse isn't directly in contact with the heating vent or other direct heat source. 💡Clinics or researchers: shared headbands can be disinfected with a non-alcohol based anti-bacterial spray. We recommend 10 cycles of swapping headbands and applying anti-bacterial spray, before handwashing to remove potential buildup of antibacterial spray. Muse S Gen 2, or Gen 1 Care Instructions Avoid over-stretching or folding your Muse S fabric band near the sensors. This could cause damage to the sensors. Try to avoid any skin care products or chemicals before using your Muse S. If you do use skin care products, make sure it's dried before putting on your Muse S. If you own a Muse S (Gen 2), to properly re-assemble the fabric band and pod after cleaning, click here. Cleaning Instructions It's important that you disconnect the Muse S pod before washing the Muse S fabric band. The pod cannot be washed. Gently hand wash your Muse S fabric band with a mild, scent-free detergent. Don't put your Muse S fabric band in a washing machine or dryer as this will damage your fabric band and isn't covered by our warranty. After hand washing your Muse S fabric band, gently dry it with a towel, then leave it laid flat to dry completely. Reinsert the Muse S pod once the band is completely dry. Your Muse S fabric band can't be placed in a tumble dryer. However, having it sit near a heating vent for faster drying is okay, so long as the Muse S isn't directly in contact with the heating vent or another direct heat source. Muse 2 or earlier Care Instructions Muse 2 and original Muse models are not waterproof. Don't expose your Muse to extremely high or extremely low temperatures. Prolonged exposure to sunlight could cause discoloration. Muse is flexible but should be protected against extreme bending or pulling, especially near the earpieces. Try to avoid any skin care products or chemicals before using Muse. If you use skin care products, make sure it's dried before wearing your Muse. Cleaning Instructions From time to time, use a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab to gently rub the forehead sensors and silicone earpieces. You can wipe the rest of your Muse down with a lightly damp cloth. 💡 Mild tarnishing of the silver electrodes is expected and does not impact performance.
