How it WorksEnabling Deep Sleep BoostConfiguring Deep Sleep BoostDeep Sleep Boost FAQS How it Works When enabled, Deep Sleep Boost uses whisper-quiet, EEG-timed audio cues to enhance natural deep-sleep cycles. When Muse detects deep sleep, soft pink-noise pulses are played in time with your brainwaves. If Muse detects the audio is disrupting your sleep (e.g., triggering arousals or unnatural patterns), it will automatically turn off the pulses so you rest uninterrupted. How it helps: These subtle cues reinforce slow-wave (deep) sleep, which is critical for physical recovery and memory consolidation. Why it matters: Deep sleep is essential for feeling rested and supporting cognitive function. Boosting deep sleep can help you wake up feeling refreshed and restore your body more effectively. Deep Sleep Boost is compatible with all Muse S headbands including Athena. Enabling Deep Sleep Boost To enable Deep Sleep Boost: Go to the Sleep tab and tap Start Sleep Session. After the sensor check, toggle on Deep Sleep Boost. Tap the > icon to download and choose the Delta Pulse audio. Configure your Deep Sleep Boost settings. Done! Configuring Deep Sleep Boost Once you’ve enabled Deep Sleep Boost, tap the Settings button to configure Deep Sleep Boost to your preferences. Bluetooth Audio - Toggle this on ONLY if you use wireless Bluetooth audio device while sleeping. This setting compensates for a delay in processing Bluetooth audio. Preview Audio - Toggle on to preview the volume of the deep sleep boost pulse audio. Boost Volume - Set the Boost Volume so that it’s very quiet but audible in bed. Before setting and testing your Deep Sleep Boost audio: Set your phone volume that you’ll use during sleep. Turn Sleep Assist off. Sleep Assist and Deep Sleep Boost don’t activate at the same time. Match your sleep routine. For example, if you’re using your phone speaker, place your phone where it will stay while you sleep. Use Preview Audio to test the Deep Sleep Boost volume. The Deep Sleep Boost sounds should be barely audible. In general, tests show louder volume improves the restorative effects, but too loud could wake you up. Everyone is different, so experiment each night to find what’s best for you.
